LACMA × NUNO Sputtered Chrome Totes are created by NUNO from the same textile used on the windows in the David Geffen Galleries.
Carefully engineered to protect artworks from UV light, its reflective luster is achieved by depositing a thin film of metal onto a thin polyester base with a process called “sputtering” that is used extensively in the semiconductor industry. The fabric is then sewn into bags, which are hand-folded and heat-set into permanent pleats.
