David Hockney (England, active United States and England, b. 1937) is an internationally renowned British artist, a Royal Academician, who maintains studios and homes in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom. His inventive use of many media—paintings, physical and digital drawings, prints, photographs, set designs, the fax machine, and most recently film—make him one of the most significant artists exploring and pushing the boundaries of art today. LACMA's permanent collection includes fifteen works, including Mulholland Drive.
