The Easter Witch depicts the Finnish custom of children dressing up as witches to welcome spring. Similar to Halloween "trick-or-treat" traditions elsewhere, Finnish little ones will go door to door with feather-decorated willow twigs as blessings to drive away evil spirits in return of treats.
Part of the FIN/JPN collection, which celebrates 100 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan, the Secrets of Finland family is beautifully symbolic. Each of the handcrafted ceramic objects represents and celebrates a seasonal ritual on the Finnish calendar such as Easter, Midsummer, and St. Lucia Day. The sweetly simple yet expressive designs are meant to evoke the pagan past of Finland, and were achieved through close collaboration with COMPANY founders Aamu Song and Johan Olin. Collect all six to tell the full story or gift one that has meaning to someone you share sacred traditions with.
