House of Cards, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1952, is the classic Eames toy. The images on this deck were chosen by them to celebrate "familar and nostalgic objects from the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms." Six slots on each card enable the cards to interlock and build structures of myriad shapes and sizes.
Charles and Ray Eames lived in Southern California and their living room was featured in the LACMA exhibition California Design, 1960-1965: Living in an Modern Way. LACMA's permanent collection includes over sixty objects designed by this husband and wife team.
