Ry Rocklen's Trophy Modern Chess Set (basketball) is a continuation of the artist's series of trophy sculptures that celebrate the blood, sweat and tears of competition. It is an iteration of functional sculptures that the artist started in 2013 and were first shown at Art Basel in Miami.
Rocklen has created a furniture 'company' named Trophy Modern that uses trophies as components of chairs, sofas, and tables as a way to create objects about sports and winning.
