Louis Sullivan: Elevator Surround Holiday Cards

The Louis Sullivan Elevator Surround holiday cards are based on a detail of the decorative metalwork that were over the elevator doors from the Chicago Stock Exchange Building. Architect Sullivan is considered "the father of skyscrapers" and "the father of modernism."
The surround was manufactured by Winslow Brothers Co. (Chicago, 1887-1921) from a design by Louis Sullivan (1856–1924) and is in LACMA's permanent collection.
