Southern California artist John Baldessari's Wrong from 1966–68 is featured on the front of this journal. A pioneer of Conceptualism, Baldessari created art at a time during which ideas superseded artistic objects. In Wrong, an early and pivotal example of this shift, a palm tree seemingly grows out of Baldessari’s head. As the artist explained, “I loved the idea that somebody would just say that this is right and this is wrong. So I decided I would have . . . a work of art that was wrong—which seemed right to me.”
