The American luxury label Rodarte found inspiration in LACMA's logo when they designed this lightweight sweatshirt for Wear LACMA. Rodarte was founded by Kate and Laura Mulleavy in Los Angeles in 2005. A conceptual and innovative brand, Rodarte is known for its artistic mixture of high couture, modern femininity, and California influences.
The designers were inspired by the LACMA logo designed by Los Angeles-based artist John Baldessari. His logo design, seen here, was created in 2008 for the redesign of the LACMA campus done by architect Renzo Piano and features underscores of the letters L and A.
Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition: Wear LACMA is an art and fashion project featuring limited-edition pieces created by some of Los Angeles’s top designers and inspired by the museum’s permanent collection and exhibitions. These one-of-a-kind fashion items will be sold at the LACMA stores and through Farfetch.com with all proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA’s Director’s Circle.
