This Ultra-explosion cuff bracelet is part of a suite of jewelry created by Lisa Eisner for Wear LACMA Fall 2016 Collection. Made of burnished bronze, the dome-shaped design contains a black opal inlaid in its center.
After more than 15 years in the fashion business as an editor at Mademoiselle and Vogue, Lisa Eisner began to focus on her own work as photographer. Eisner’s photography has appeared in many publications including French Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar. She has exhibited solo shows of her photography at Jan Kesner and M+B Gallery, and she launched her own line of hand-crafted jewelry in 2014.
Eisner was inspired by Jay DeFeo’s The Jewel (1959). DeFeo was a pivotal figure in California art of the 1950s and ’60s. This particular painting evokes celestial and geological readings through the artist’s use of thick paint and radiating lines. The Jewel is considered to be one of the artist’s most iconic and monumental paintings.
Wear LACMA is an art and fashion project featuring unique art-inspired pieces created by some of Los Angeles’s top designers. These are sold at the LACMA stores with all proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA’s Director’s Circle.
