Greg Lauren has created one of a kind jackets for Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition. This burlap jacket is individually done and unique, and in unisex size 2. See the other one-of-a-kind Greg Lauren jackets.
Greg Lauren, born and raised in New York City, is a Los Angeles-based artist and designer known for his wearable garments created from repurposed materials. Lauren favors deconstructing traditional garments and challenging classic proportions. His first collection debuted at Barneys in 2011.
Lauren was inspired by Josef Sigall’s painting, seen here, that depicts a drifter during the time of the Great Depression. Sigall has very sympathetically presented an elderly man who stops to rest and contemplate his situation. This painting came to the museum with no title but has been called The Wanderer because of its subject matter.
Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition: Wear LACMA is an art and fashion project featuring limited-edition pieces created by some of Los Angeles’s top designers and inspired by the museum’s permanent collection and exhibitions. These one-of-a-kind fashion items will be sold at the LACMA stores and through Farfetch.com with all proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA’s Director’s Circle.
