Co has created a delicate long sleeve women’s blouse with a ruffled yoke in white for Wear LACMA. Cotton lace inspired by the collar and cuffs of a Dutch portrait at LACMA form the upright collar, ruffled yoke, and cuffs on this blouse.
A Los Angeles-based company headed by Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern, Co was founded in 2011 and focuses on luxury womenswear that is sleek, polished, and practical. Their collections incorporate unique and sophisticated twists on classic silhouettes, designed with the intention of creating a cohesive wardrobe for their clientele.
Co was inspired by a 17th-century portrait of a young woman by Dutch Golden Age painter Jacob Adriaensz Backer, seen here. The blouses were designed to echo the tones and formality of the portrait. Wear LACMA: 50th Anniversary Edition:
Wear LACMA is an art and fashion project featuring limited-edition pieces created by some of Los Angeles’s top designers and inspired by the museum’s permanent collection and exhibitions. These one-of-a-kind fashion items will be sold at the LACMA stores and through Farfetch.com with all proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA’s Director’s Circle.
