Clare Vivier's Antoine beaded clutch has intricate beading in red, cream and navy. While the front is beaded, the back is white leather, and the linen lining is embroidered with the words "Charmant Charmant."
Vivier's designs marry classic French glamour with minimalist L.A. cool in a line of handbags and clutches that are both utilitarian and stylish. With a nod to socially conscious construction, each bag bears the label “Locally Made." Vivier is firmly rooted in the local fashion community, and from conception to fabrication, her line has been made exclusively in Los Angeles since 2008
The designer was inspired by a vest from LACMA’s Costume and Textile collection seen here, dating from the French Revolution Vivier's pieces embrace the spirit of the 18th-century garment: from its beautiful colors to the intricate needlework and embedded French phrases. The vest's collar is embroidered with "Charmant Charmant" which would have attracted attention to the man's cropped, unpowdered hair - a new fashion worn by male supporters of the French Revolution.
