Chiefs & Governors: Art and Power in Fiji is the first major exhibition dedicated to Fijian art in the UK. Inspired by the collection of Fijian artefacts, photographs, and archives at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, this accompanying catalog introduces important aspects of Fijian art and culture as it emphasizes the dynamism and creativity of Fiji. The book also highlights key moments of Fijian pre-colonial and colonial history while examining its link to the foundation of the MAA.
Co-authored by curators Anita Herle and Lucie Carreau with contributions by Fergus Clunie, Jocelyne Dudding, Steven Hooper, Katrina Igglesden, Karen Jacobs, Stéphanie Leclerc-Caffarel, Andy Mills and Barbara Wills.
