For Wear LACMA Anita Ko has created a special yellow gold ear cuff with pavé diamonds inspired by exquisite bat motifs from two Korean objects from the 19th-century Joseon period: a reading table used by scholars and a delicate porcelain bottle. The symbol of the bat signifies good fortune and is also a play on words, a homophone, since the pronunciation for the Chinese character for bat 蝠 (bok) is the same as the pronunciation for the Chinese character for good fortune and happiness 福 (bok).

Anita Ko launched her fresh and modern jewelry collection in 2006. Her unique contemporary designs employ micro-pave diamonds, 18-karat gold, and vibrant semiprecious stones. Ko’s whimsical approach to design is evident in her use of geometric shapes and animals, and she finds inspiration for her pieces in her embrace of the Los Angeles lifestyle.

These one-of-a-kind items are sold at the LACMA Stores and NET-A-PORTER.COM with proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA’s Director’s Circle.

To fasten, slide the cuff onto the middle of the ear, then twist inward to attach. Move upward for a secure fit. Ear cuff may be worn on either ear.
