This richly hued teal and aqua throw was originally designed in the mid-1960s by Alexander Girard for Braniff International Airways. It was part of an astounding 17,543-item brand identity system—from logo to lounge furniture to bag tags. This throw was recreated by Pendleton—whose blankets Girard avidly collected.
LACMA has extensive holdings in mid-century design including furniture by Herman Miller Company and by Charles and Ray Eames.
