Alexander Girard Doll #21 designed by mid-century designer Alexander Girard known for his bold and colorful patterns, and known particularly for his textile design. Girard made a number of wooden dolls for his own house in Santa Fe - creating and painting them himself. This doll is a recreation of one of them, and was inspired by his love of folk art from around the world. He was head of Herman Miller Company's textile division and designed many textiles himself.
