William Morris’s florals are pure nineteenth-century elegance. Soft, flowing patterns are overlaid with delicate details in warm, rich colors. Designed to be printed on fabric and wallpaper, many of the ornate block-print patterns are still produced today. A pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, Morris promoted handcrafted goods with a belief that you should have nothing in your home that wasn’t useful or beautiful. The twelve images in this calendar represent a variety of beautiful works by William Morris and his team.
LACMA's permanent collection includes many Arts & Crafts Movement objects and four works by William Morris (England, 1834–1896).
