This limited edition lithograph, Untitled, 1980, was created for LACMA by Richard Hunt (b. 1935) in celebration of LACMA's acquisition of Hunt's sculpture Extended Forms in 1980. This acquisition was a major collaborative effort between donors and LACMA, spearheaded by former trustee Robert Wilson with the support of the Museum’s then-active Black Historical Advisory Group.
Hunt is one of America's foremost sculptors and was the first African American artist to have a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (1971). He lives and works in Chicago.
Though the Black Historical Advisory Group no longer exists, these prints have been made available to benefit LACMA's African American Art Fund. Proceeds from the sale of this lithograph have made possible acquisitions of works by John Biggers, Adrian Piper and Therman Statom.
