The Selene kimono robe features a hand-printed pattern on rose-gold silk with cinnabar silk trim. A self-belt is attached at the back of the waist. The robe style is named after Selene, regarded as the personification of the moon in ancient Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Titans, and guided her chariot, drawn by two snow-white horses, across the heavens.
LFrank was founded by native Californian Liseanne Frankfurt who travels extensively throughout the world in search of inspiration. Liseanne’s designs bring a modern sensibility to the centuries-old tradition of jewelry-making. Her deep knowledge and commitment to making exquisite objects of personal adornment led to the recent creation of the LFrank Lingerie collection, representing an expansion into the realm of personal luxury as not only adornment, but as a lifestyle distinction.
The design was inspired by Fragment of Kosode (Kimono) with Design of Wisteria and Fence and Covered Tea Carrier with Design of Autumn Grasses, both works are in LACMA's permanent collection.
Since October 2012, Wear LACMA has collaborated with an array of established designers who have produced unique art-inspired products inspired by LACMA's collection and exhibitions. Designed in California, these items are sold at the LACMA Store and online, with all proceeds benefiting the museum. This project was created by LACMA's Director's Circle.
